God is looking for mourners in this season. Ones that are so in tune with His heart that what moves Him will move them. It is easy to see what is wrong in the world. Pointing out issues and flaws in the society around us is not hard. But truly mourning in a heavenly way about it is what will bring comfort. Everyone in the days of Nehemiah could see that the wall was broken down, but only one man responded in a way that moved heaven:
Neh. 1:4 As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
This turned him into a pioneer and reformer. Those who mourn for the injustice around them steps into the fast of the Lord. They will be called rebuilders, restores of the breach, repairers and redeemers of the foundations of many generations (Isa 58:12). These are the ones the world needs now.
The reward for mourning is comfort. I believe what the Lord showed is that those who mourn will receive the Comforter in this season in a way unseen before. There is a fresh anointing and empowerment that will come upon them and turn us into different men and women. Men and women of purpose, vision and authority. All birthed out of a heart of love for what is wrong around us.
This is a restoration anointing, an anointing to reform what is broken and not in sync with heaven in our lives and those around us. It is the spirit of Elijah. Jesus said that the spirit of Elijah was on John the Baptist, but He also said that this spirit must restore all things (Matt. 17:10-11). All things hasn’t been restored yet, and only when it has will heaven release Jesus for His second coming (Acts 3:21). The beauty of the Elijah anointing is that it increased into the next generation. Elisha did more signs and wonders than Elijah did. I believe that this will be true for the mourners. An increased anointing, with needle sharp accuracy in words and a breakout of signs and wonders. Prophets of power released upon the earth birthed out of mourning and a desire to see change.
This anointing will turn nations around, bring kings to repentance, control weather patterns and call fire down on the devil and his demons. These will truly restore and turn hearts back to the Father and heal families, bodies and the land.
Something new is coming. Something that will defy hell and glorify Jesus in the world around us. And the way to receive this Comfort is through seeing the hurt around us, stepping into it and allowing Him to break our hearts and truly see how wrong things are. Let go of a critical spirit and prejudice in our hearts, this will block His emotions to flow through us. It will stop the flow and anointing being released. Repent of hard hearts. Get in the secret place before Him. Cry out for His mercy and grace to touch the places flooded with injustice and see how your heart changes.
Matt. 5:4 Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God’s favour and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted!
